Project Summary

TRS Group, Inc. (TRS) under contract with URS Corporation ( URS) and Resource Environmental, LLC (RELLC) conducted an electrical resistance heating (ERH) remediation of benzene at a former gasoline service station located in southern New Jersey, The project scope of work was contracted as a Guaranteed Fixed Price Remediation (GFPR) that included no rebound of benzene in groundwater for six months following the remediation. The soil and groundwater beneath the site have been contaminated by gasoline related volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX), The Site was redeveloped approximately 20 years prior into a commercial bank presently in operation. Initial baseline benzene concentrations were 22,000 pg/kg in soil and 11,000 |jg/l in groundwater. Treatment goals in soil; 19-19,78 ft bgs -0,005 mg/kg, 19.78-35 ft bgs - 2,000 pg/kg and groundwater: 50 pg/l.

Background

The site is a former gasoline station that has been redeveloped as a commercial/retail bank. The area of treatment lies beneath the paved parking lot and landscaped areas on the south/southeastern portion of the property.
