Successful Isolation of 48” Water Main and Backflow Prevention

Salem, OR When they contacted Hydra-Stop, the primary need for the City of Salem was replacing a section of the existing water mains that were aging and put the City’s water supply at risk. In order to do this they had to isolate the water main from the City’s water system. This 48” line had been in the ground for fifty years. There were significant concerns about the integrity of the pipe and risk to the system if a problem occurred during the replacement.
“Another complicating factor was that the City had only two lines serving it,” states Brett Jennings, Project Manager for Natt McDougall Company, Portland Oregon “They could not allow any backflow to occur during the replacement.”
