Sustainable water resources governance

Sustainability – whatever its structure and its terminology – has become the concept that indicates how natural resources should be used and developed. It is however an enigmatic concept that is often accused of lacking substance and meaning.  Nevertheless it has become increasingly embedded in the legal arrangements for the way in which natural resources – including water resources – are managed. The challenges associated with sustainability and how they might be addressed are the themes of my publication entitled The Law and Governance of Water Resources: The Challenge of Sustainability published by Edward Elgar Publishing and co-published by IWA Publishing.
