It’s not too big, it’s not too small… It’s just right!
We hear it all the time from our customers: “The ABUTEC 200 is too small for our site, but the HTF is too large. Can you create a custom unit?”
The answer sometimes surprises those customers. While yes, we can certainly develop a custom unit just for your site, a more efficient (and cost-effective) solution is to pair multiple ABUTEC units together to meet your site’s unique needs.
ABUTEC specialists look at a number of factors, including flow rate and gas analysis, to determine the right combination of flares to give you the exact amount of combustion capacity your site needs – no more, no less.
Using two ABUTEC units offers increased turndown ratio – you’re able to achieve a high capacity for both units, but the flow can be as low as what just one unit needs, so the units operate in tandem, based upon the flow. Additionally, companies benefit from two smaller units as opposed to one larger unit, because if a site’s production drops, one of the units can be relocated to a different site for use.
We recently worked with a drilling site just outside of Houston that had a flow rate too high for one ABUTEC 200, but an ABUTEC High Temperature Flare (HTF) would have been unnecessarily large. The solution was to pair two ABUTEC 200s that would work in sequence to meet the current amount of pressure in the lines, ensuring that the correct amount of combustion was always achieved.
It just goes to show that sometimes the simplest solution is the best. It also shows that, even if it’s a BEAR of a problem, we can tackle it!
