Condition assessment and management of wastewater force mains has historically been challenging for operators. Conventional methods (e.g. visual inspection, sonar and laser profiling) do not provide a comprehensive condition assessment because they do not quantify the loss of structural capacity.
As WEFTEC 2013 in Chicago approaches, Pure will outline the most effective steps for creating and implementing a strategy for wastewater assets. Our risk-based approach combines traditional engineering techniques with state-of-the-art inspection technologies to provide operators with actionable information about their wastewater force mains.
Through a risk-based approach, operators are able to address their highest-risk and most critical assets, while avoiding unnecessary expenditure on assets that have significant remaining useful life. Several utilities around the United States have employed this strategy, successfully renewing their wastewater infrastructure while working within a tight capital budget.
