The Influence of PVC on the Quantity and Hazardousness of Flue Gas Cleaning Residues from Incineration

0
The study estimates the influence of PVC on the quantity and hazardousness of flue gas residues from incineration. The analysis has been carried out on both theoretical and practical terms. A distinction between dry, semi-dry and wet gas treatment systems has been made. The influence of PVC has been assessed on the combustion steps and therefore on the distribution of chlorine and other pollutants (heavy metals, and trace elements) among the solid phase (bottom ash) and the gas phase (raw-gas). The additional costs for PVC incineration have also been estimated.

The study was undertaken by Bertin Technologies Tarnos (France), VKI-Water Quality Institute (Denmark) and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (Germany).
