Thermodynamic analyses of advanced desiccant cooling systems with various configurations
Six configurations of conventional and advanced desiccant cooling systems are presented, analysed and compared thermodynamically. The advanced systems are modified forms of the conventional systems. These advanced systems are desiccant cooling systems in the ventilation mode (ADV), the modified ventilation mode (ADMV) and the recirculation mode (ADR). For each configuration, a thermodynamic model is developed by making use of the FORTRAN and the EES software. All the advanced cycles show better performance compared to the conventional ones, and the ADV system is found to be the best among all the considered six systems, from the viewpoint of the second law of thermodynamics.
