Convenient USB Transfer Saves You Time and Hassle
Many manufacturers and organizations use dataTaker data loggers for their machine monitoring, temperature profiling, remote monitoring, and other applications. The dataTaker DT8X product line offers you the convenient ability to use a USB stick to handle useful functions including updating the firmware and retrieving data from these devices. Now CAS DataLoggers Applications Specialists have produced a tutorial to show how you can use these intelligent systems to quickly get set up and collect your data using this convenient feature.Updating your dataTaker’s firmware is just a matter of downloading the firmware update from our website at http://www.dataloggerinc.com/downloads/datataker.php. Make sure that the version that you are downloading is for the series logger you have, and download the ‘USB Stick Upgrade’ version. To install the firmware, simply unzip the file to the root of a USB flash drive and plug it into the dataTaker’s front USB port. Now the ‘OnInsert.dxc’ file should automatically execute. If you get a message asking you if you want to run the ‘oninsert.dxc’ file, simply click the button with the yellow checkmark. The update process takes about 15 minutes, and the logger will automatically reset when it’s finished.
Retrieving your data is just as easy--all you need to do is to insert a blank USB stick into the front of the logger. After the logger finishes scanning the USB stick, you’ll get a prompt asking if you wish to download the data. As above, simply click the yellow check button on the front of the logger.
The new Series 3 dataTaker monitoring solutions from CAS DataLoggers feature universal input channels for use with a wide range of input signal types to measure almost any signal including Temperature, Current, Voltage, 4-20mA Loops, Resistance, Strain Gauges, Bridges, Frequency, Digital, Serial and Calculated Measurements. These intelligent devices also offer powerful alarm and programming capabilities enabling them to process measurements and initiate actions on their own.
Boasting a rugged design and construction, dataTaker products are world-renowned for surviving rough handling and environments, built to last over years of constant operation. Their extensive communications arrays include RS232 with modem support, USB, Ethernet and USB memory stick ports so you can choose to connect to the device locally, remotely or over the Internet. This versatility is increased with the logger’s multiple SDI-12 sensor networks, Modbus for SCADA systems, FTP and Web interface, so dataTakers are ready to be rolled out in any number of industrial machine monitoring projects.
Additionally, FREE graphical interface software is packaged with every dataTaker. dEX is a user-friendly resource enabling users to breeze through configuration and view sensor measurements in real-time and see calculations and diagnostic information--all in a Windows Explorer style interface. Users can also view their real-time data as mimics, trend charts, or tables, and retrieve historical data for analysis. The software comes built-in with no applications to install, runs directly from a web browser, and can be accessed either locally or remotely anywhere that a TCP/IP connection is available including worldwide over the Internet.
