Valve innovation drives ion technology
A NOVEL multiport distribution valve is at the heart of a new ion exchange system that reduces plant operating costs and capital expenditure by improving liquid–resin contact efficiency. The patented IONEX process can be used for resource recovery and purification in a wide range of industries, as well as water demineralization. Ion exchange systems are already used extensively for water demineralization, resource recovery and purification. The systems and resins are typically used in a batch mode, but the development of continuous ion exchange systems and countercurrent processes such as IONEX is extending the use of this technology to many different industries. For example, ion exchange systems are now being used for the recovery of heavy metals from waste streams and in food processing to manufacture sugar.
