Reducing the Impact of Volatile Organic Compounds in the Printing Industry

1. BUSINESS CHALLENGE

In 2005, a major Canadian printing company came to √ČEM inc. with the challenge of reducing their environmental impact from the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are typically photochemically reactive, meaning they react with sunlight, to create smog and pollution. This issue had been an ongoing concern for the company and became unacceptable under their new corporate strategy. The company challenged us to find a solution that could be integrated effectively into their numerous Canadian printing operations.
