The challenge of securing safe and plentiful water for all is one of the most daunting challenges faced by the world today ... Our experiences tell us that environmental stress due to lack of water may lead to conflict and would be greater in poor nations.1

At a recent international meeting of the Global Agenda Councils of the World Economic Forum, which was convened in the shadow of the encroaching global economic meltdown, a venture capitalist from outside the water sector asserted: ‘the water crisis is like the banking crisis-only worse: when the world runs out of water, there will be no life on earth.’2
