This powerpoint, Well Identification and Environmental Management, A Lesson in Standards and Data Management, was given by Keith Fraley from Shell Exploration and Production at the ESRI Petroleum User Group Conference in February 2008. It describes an approach for collection and storage of hydrology sampling event results for a project consisting of about 600 wells and 400,000 analytical results. Shell needed a digital solution in the field to leverage in house GIS datasets and wanted to develop a field GIS platform to disseminate geographic data. They chose ArcGIS Explorer (AGX) for a field GIS Platform and use EQuIS and a custom EQuIS IDEF. Data is delivered as a cached bundle, leveraging both ESRI ArcGIS Online Services and internal Shell ArcGIS Services.
