Do you have electronics that are just sitting in your closet and you don't know what to do with them? There are companies that will take them and separate them into different categories like plastics, glass, circuit boards, hard drives and more. Some of the electronics that are good for recycling are telecommunication equipment, networking equipment, sound and visual equipment, back-up power supply systems, cell phones, cameras, pc towers, laptops, computers, monitors, keyboards, mouse, hard drives, mainframes, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines, medical equipment, lab equipment, photocopiers, typewriters, toner cartridges and more.

The world has been collecting environmentally harmful electronics at a growing rate of five percent every year. Lots of people have them just stored up in their closets as they get new ones. There are about 133,000 electronics that are being replaced every day and they just turn into toxic land fill. To fix this problem everyone should be recycling them. Antimony, silver, chromium, zinc, lead, tin, copper and mercury are all extremely harmful and toxic to the environment. It is a big problem that the world is dealing with because there will eventually be an overflow of thrown away electronics and their harmful elements unless people start taking action now.

Generally you can recycle any type of electronics. Some examples of things you might have laying around that you need to recycle are cell phones, networking equipment, sound and visual equipment, back-up power supply systems, telecommunication equipment, hard drives, cameras, pc towers, laptops, computers, monitors, keyboard and mouse, mainframes, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines, medical equipment, lab equipment, photocopiers, typewriters, toner cartridges and more. Companies have systems that will allow you to feel comfortable in the fact that they will destroy all data that they receive into their facility within 48 hours in a hard drive shredder. They will give you a tracking number and all the information and proof you need to feel secure in the fact that it will be completely destroyed for your privacy.

There are many other reasons to recycle your electronics. These are just a few and it is a great idea to do your part in contributing to saving the earth. There are people that think they can't help by just contributing their one computer to recycling but that is not true. Every little piece helps. If you only have a cell phone to contribute that in itself will even help stop the pollution from increasing.
