Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the degree of air purity inside buildings that constitute the usual environment in which people carry out activities (offices, homes, schools, shopping and leisure centres, etc.)
Because of increasing urbanisation and our contemporary lifestyle, most people spend a large proportion of their time in these closed environments.
The high level of atmospheric pollution in urban environments and its short- and long-term impact on human health are well known.
However, inside buildings, levels of contamination can be 5 to 10 times higher than outdoors. This is due to the numerous sources of pollution to be found in office blocks and homes. For example: furniture, cleaning materials, etc.
The main atmospheric pollutants, which have a very negative impact on health, are particles produced by the use of solid fuels and heavy hydrocarbons.
Every year millions of people all over the world die because of pollution caused by such particles, especially in countries where the use of solid fuels is predominant.
Another significant group of pollutants which are causing increasing concern are gases and vapours: Formaldehyde, NOx, SO2, Ozone O3, Benzene, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH).
Different states and organisations have established legislation and recommendations on permissible levels of pollutants in indoor air.

To meet regulatory requirements, gas filtration systems are increasingly being incorporated in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, for example in offices.
Bioconservacion has a wide range of filtration products that allow the main gases with an impact on human health to be eliminated. All these products have been developed in Bioconservacion's R&D laboratory.
