Cutting Through The Green Tape III: The Economy Or The Environment, Do I Need To Choose?
Climate change has an impact on us all. Regardless of what political party we represent, the economic and social case for taking action speaks for itself. As people feel the pinch in the current economic climate, they are looking for green solutions which can save them money and make their homes healthier. They are also seeking greater protection from the effects of environmental change, such as worsening weather and flooding. Local government must continue to take a lead in building more resilient communities, using our local knowledge to tackle both the immediate economic problems and the longer term environmental challenges that we face. To encourage the view that local authorities are key players in the effort to reduce carbon emissions, and encourage councilors of the importance of the climate change agenda, the LGA has produced the leaflet called ‘Cutting through the Green Tape III: The economy or the environment – do I need to choose?’ Hard copies have been distributed to all councilors in England and Wales via a special edition of First magazine.
