Simplified Occupational Hygiene Risk Management Strategies
This guidebook is intended to provide the user with some basic tools to conduct risk management for occupational health hazards such as biological, chemical, ergonomic (eg. manual handling), radiation and other physical exposures (eg. noise and vibration). It thus covers hazard identification, exposure characterisation and risk assessment, control and management. It draws strongly from AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management, D Grantham’s Simplified Monitoring Strategies and JR Mulhuasen & J Damiano’s A Strategy for Assessing and Managing Occupational Exposures and the reader is encouraged to also consult these. For the occupational hygienist, exposure assessment and risk assessment cannot be reasonably separated. For this reason, this Guidebook is a companion guide with the Simplified Monitoring Strategies Guidebook, also published by the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
