US Water Law: An Introduction
Providing a concise description of different aspects of law and policy, this volume reviews the different systems for determining water rights in the United States. The book looks at the systems used in the west, which take into account the arid nature of the climate and the vast amount of government-owned property, and contrast those against systems in the east, which are largely based on ownership of riparian land. Special sections are included, which deal with Native American rights, environmental regulation, nuisance and tort law, and social theory. The material is supplemented with tables of cases and statutes, as well as a glossary and a list of web links for all 50 state codes.
