The Gasplasma process is an innovative combination of two well-established technologies – gasification and plasma treatment, both of which have decades of proven commercial operation.
APP’s Gasplasma technology converts waste and/or the outputs from any waste gasification process efficiently and economically into two products:
- A clean, hydrogen-rich synthesis gas (syngas), which can be used to generate electricity directly in gas engines, turbines or fuel cells and can also be converted into substitute natural gas, hydrogen or liquid fuels;
- An inert product (Plasmarok) that has applications as a high value construction material
The technology is patented internationally.
At APP we have developed a patented energy from waste solution called Gasplasma®. It transforms waste into a hydrogen-rich synthesis gas which can be used for power generation by direct combustion in gas engines and biogas creation.

Gasplasma solves the issues surrounding LATS targets and trading, landfill reduction, carbon reduction and the Local Authority's own agenda of delivering best practice solutions for a wide range of national and local agreements.
An Advanced Plasma Power waste to energy plant is a real alternative to landfill, provides increased levels of recycling and contributes to the abatement of carbon emissions.
Gasplasma is classed as energy recovery rather than waste disposal; allowing APP plants to be built more quickly and closer to industry and new housing where locally produced energy can best be used.
With increasing pressure on new-build to lower carbon emissions through green construction, every opportunity to lower the carbon footprint of a new development, whether residential or industrial, needs to be explored.
Waste to energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions because it avoids the need to burn fossil fuels to produce energy. The waste market is established, with long term reliable players managing logistics. In addition, the aggregates-levy taxes the extraction of primary materials, while the Government target to use more recycled content in construction projects is being adopted by local authorities and the public sector.
