ASI owes its humble beginning to its founders, Peter and Yuxian Cai. In 1989 Peter and Yuxian started ASI in the garage of their own house. Prior to the founding of ASI, Peter and Yuxian each had already spent 25 years working for electrode manufacturing companies, learning and contributing to the progression of this industry.

In 1989, ASI only had two employees working in a converted home garage. Today ASI employs over 200 employees worldwide with offices in Texas, Colorado, and Shanghai, China with a total manufacturing space of over 45,000 square feet. Through our vertically integrated manufacturing operations in the USA and China, ASI differentiates itself as an innovative, high quality, low cost manufacturer with strong global reach. Additionally, to complement our full suite of manufacturing capabilities, ASI offers a depth services to support our customers’ entire product lifecycle. ASI has two engineering groups and a fully functioned R&D lab dedicated to supporting our global customers through initial conceptualization and design, detailed mechanical and 3D drawings, prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Furthermore, to meet our customer needs, our plastic molding shop in Shanghai has the full capability of custom mold design and manufacturing, as well as plastic injection molding for high quality but small volume plastic parts.
