OUR HERITAGE
Atlas Paper Mills can trace its roots as a pioneering paper manufacturer of 100% recycled, environmentally preferable tissue products to the early 1980’s well before the Green and Sustainability trends became so significant.

Our dedication to recycling dates back to our very beginning when our founder, Remberto Bastanzuri, took a part-time job as a machine operator at a paper mill in Cuba. Soon he was named technical director of the island’s paper mills, and oversaw production of paper from a combination of sugar cane bagasse and, for largely economic reasons, recycled waste paper. Who knew he was in the forefront of a revolution! Soon after arriving in Miami in 1979, Remberto started Atlas Paper Mills, bringing with him everything he had learned about recycling. Today, Atlas is recognized as a technology leader and is committed to elevating our environmental stewardship to new heights.

Atlas Paper Mills was truly “Born Green™” and through advancements in its papermaking, manufacturing and converting processes, has become an even deeper shade of Green.

Today, all of our recycled products are:

  • Made from 100% Recycled Wastepaper
  • Composed of more than 20% Post-Consumer Content
  • 100% Chlorine-Free and produced in a Chlorine-Free Manufacturing Environment
  • Produced using a source-reducing array of waste raw material sources (including aseptic packaging containers) thereby eliminating thousands of pounds of waste from entering landfills annually
  • Qualified for LEED Certification points representing exceptional customer value when compared to other Certifiably Green Tissue Based Products

Today, as always, Atlas focuses on the four R’s of Environmental Stewardship: Recycle, Reuse, Reduce and Respect for our resources and our Earth.

To this end, the Atlas manufacturing process and our end products are dedicated to:

  • Saving trees
  • Saving landfill space
  • Saving water consumption
  • Saving energy
