Our dry ice, also known as solid carbon dioxide, always comes from a reliably sourced and sustainable recycling or reclaiming process as well. Typically dry ice is created using a byproduct of industrial ammonia formulation and so is harvested from a natural resource and does not contribute to the release of more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, otherwise known as the greenhouse effect.

Dry ice blasting plays a critical role cleaning in the plastics and rubbers industries as well as helps companies to easily meet industry and government regulations. The process also helps reduce downtime and is highly cost effective, typically saving thousands from traditional cleaning methods.

In any remediation project we finish through the application of only organic micro-biocides to further ensure our standard of “green” blasting. This organic micro-biocide is not harmful to humans or pets and is safe to use indoors. BLAST: The first step of any project is careful examination of the work at hand in order to select a dry ice pellet size and acceleration that is appropriate for the substrate and contaminant. Our certified dry ice blasting contractors will assess the specific needs of the project in order to ascertain the specific size and blasting speed necessary for the client. The specific nozzle technology is also an extremely important aspect of the project, as it will guarantee efficiency and productivity bringing cost and downtime to a minimum. Once the proper size and acceleration level have been chosen, the ice pellets are blasted at supersonic speeds through a jet of compressed air at the desired substrate.

SUBLIMATE: Sublimation is the process by which a substance changes from a solid straight to a gas, bypassing the typical liquid stage in between. We believe that staying green and focused on sustainability is important for the planet and our future. Our dry ice is reliably sourced and is recycled from reclaimed carbon dioxide. Dry ice or CO2 is of course very cold due to this conversion process, kept at temperatures around -78 ° C. When the pellets are propelled at supersonic speeds against the warmer surface of the substrate it causes the carbon dioxide to rapidly convert back into a gas or sublimate. This is important because it keeps additional moisture from getting in air or on the substrate.

SHOCK: Sublimation is an expansive process in that it causes a substance to expand in size when converting from a solid straight into a gas. The CO2 or dry ice pellets penetrate the surface residue, impacting the substrate and expanding to a gas by up to almost 700 times the size of the original pellet itself. This rapid expansion due to sublimation creates a micro explosion against the surface of the substrate and the contaminants on the surface. The micro explosion rapidly changes the temperature of the substrate and contaminant causing them to contract and reducing overall adherence between the two. This thermal shock to the substrate effectively removes the contaminants from the surface.

RESTORE: Dry ice blasting is a great clean alternative allowing you to restore your equipment, machinery, or even prized possessions to an almost original state. The dramatic change in adherence between the substrate and the contaminants leaves the surface both clean and more importantly dry. There is no secondary waste because the dry ice converts to gas during the blasting process.
