For the past 26 years Boojum Research Limited has designed, implemented, monitored and documented ecological treatment systems for acidic mine waste waters and carried out R&D on reduction of sulphide oxidation in tailings and waste rock on mine waste management areasin Canada (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan), Brazil and Germany. Boojum Research utilizes the ecological principles by which ecological systems sequester contaminants, reduce acidity and regain vitality. This is accomplished by assisting these systems with appropriate inputs of energy and material. In keeping with the principles of ecological engineering, Boojum has endeavored, in all of its projects, to develop solutions that are environmentally sustainable, economic and effective over the long-term. Our projects have been carried out in co-operation with various mining companies the National Research Council of Canada, and the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

Boojum Research Limited is a virtual company. It's extensive mining environmental data base containing the chemical and physical profiles of more than 150 mine waste management areas are contained on computer at its Canadian and European offices, while its library of project reports compiled over almost 26 years, is available to all researchers through the Mining and the Environment Research Literature Information Network (MERLIN) at the J. N. Desmarais Library at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Boojum's core researchers Margarete Kalin, Dr. William Wheeler (USA) and Carlos Paulo (Portugal), and work with experts such as , Dr. Gunther Meinrath (Germany) and Mike Sudbury (Canada). Wieslaw Poliszot (Canada) and Martin Smith (Canada) past core researchers continue to contribute to Boojum's research and production.
