We support the Energy Technologies Institute and The Carbon Trust in their work funding UK excellence in innovation. Our links with research organisations enables us to find academic partners for RD&D activities and industrial partners for those with technology that can make a real difference.

Our knowledge, together with our understanding of the industry, enables us to offer the best guidance on developing new technologies that meet a market need.

BVG Associates is the leading UK consultancy for wind and marine device supply chain analysis and development.  We ensure that the needs of public sector and private sector can be met, accelerating the progress towards regional and UK renewable energy targets and both job and wealth creation.

We work with the UK Government, delivering all supply chain development activities for the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC’s) UK Renewables service.  This gives us excellent access to decision-makers within DECC, the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).  We maintain close relationships with regional enabling bodies such as the English Regional Development Agencies, applying broad understanding of national and international trends to address regional priorities.

For industry, we advise on policy for renewable energy deployment in the UK and provide business development support for companies entering the industry or expanding their interests in the UK.  Over the last three years, BVG Associates has authored RenewableUK’s reports on the state of the UK and EU offshore wind sector. Using our wide network and understanding of both technology and market environment, we are able to provide decisive input to industrial and consultancy players on both strategic and tactical levels.

From initial site selection, feasibility, and development management we assist in the delivery of wind projects.  We help asset managers to maximise the revenue from their generation capability, to understand turbine failures and to assess repair processes.

We have productive relationships with purchasers and R&D leaders in many wind turbine manufacturers and wind farm developers.  While observing confidentiality, we are able to resolve problems of individual companies through our understanding of shared concerns.

Our experience of wind farm implementation allied to a detailed knowledge of the available turbines enables us to find solutions for landowners looking to install turbines that maximise the return through the feed-in tariffs.

Read our full medium wind capability assessment here.

Through our knowledge of wind turbines and development we take a staged approach to assess, and where appropriate, develop your wind generation projects whether they are a single medium sized turbine, or a large wind farm.  We take a project from inception through planning and build out to operation.

The introduction of UK feed-in-tariffs (FiTs) in April 2010 improved the returns particularly for medium sized turbines

We will give you a quick view on suitability and if we think your site has some potential for at least one appropriately sited medium sized wind turbine, we will propose a staged approach; starting with a desktop feasibility study.

We provide:

  • Supply chain advice and networks
  • Advice on technological and market trends
  • Feasibility studies
