The challenge: create a new recycling process: Current figures estimate that there are around ten million tons of PET plastic bottles to be recycled, and yet this substantial market is severely under-exploited. Today, less than 10% of collected plastic is recycled, and more often than not into products with a much lower value added.
The challenge: develop competitive biosourced polymers. At present, biosourced polymers are 2 to 4 times more expensive than petrochemical plastics and this weak economic performance (one of the three core levers) makes it difficult to find a market for new products.
