Cooper Environmental has the unique capability to measure and interpret elements using X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) in a fully-automated fashion. Using this core technology, Cooper was the first to commercially manufacture an XRF-based multi-metals continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS) in the world. This automated XRF technology is also used to measure and interpret elements in ambient air, and will soon be adapted to a multi-metals water monitoring system. Cooper Environmental provides innovative scientific instruments and technical consulting for complex air quality issues, specializing in the measurement of metals in industrial emissions and ambient air. Cooper employs staff members with highly technical backgrounds and years of experience working in relevant fields. Cooper Environmental has been in operation since 1996 and was awarded EPA’s Clean Air Excellence Award for development of a multi-metal continuous emissions monitor. Cooper was also awarded a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award from the EPA to study performance of the monitor at a coal-fired power plant. In September 2012, the US EPA released a Environmental Technology Verification Report that demonstrated that the Xact® 625 XRF sampling and analysis at 1 hour intervals compared well to the EPA reference standard sampling and analysis using ICP/MS methodology.
