CEA, Inc. was cofounded in 1985 in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts by Steven M. Migridichian, CPG, PG; a young energetic, petroleum geophysicist who offered environmental consulting and remediation services with only a handful of employees and resources initially to the retail petroleum market. The firm has expanded over the years to meet increasing customer demands and geographic service areas with ever changing environmental regulations. In 1993 CEA established a boring, probing, and drilling division, Drilex Environmental Inc. , which specializes in all phases of drilling using cutting-edge equipment technologies. In 1996 CEA relocated its growing operations which now numbered over 50 employees and 100 pieces of specialty equipment to the Hartwell Business Park in West Boylston, Massachusetts, a former Brownfields site, where it is still headquartered today.
In 2000 CEA, Inc. expanded to become a full service environmental consulting, engineering and contracting firm. The addition of senior principals Adam J. Last, P.E., LSP and Scott E. VanderSea, LSP, LEP broadened CEA, Inc’s depth of knowledge and experience, further propelling its technical capabilities and success. Currently Mr. Last and Mr. VanderSea serve as Regional Managers directing and overseeing all technical and operational aspects of client needs and services. The addition of Richard J. Hanson, licensed construction supervisor, also in 2000, added construction capabilities to CEA’s already expansive list of field and support services. Mr. Hanson has over 25 years of environmental construction, remediation, emergency response and hazardous waste experience. He currently manages all field and construction personnel and oversees CEA’s ever growing contracting portfolio.
In 2006 Mr. Migridichian’s wife Deborah N. Migridichian, former Controller and CFO of the firm since 1988 was elevated to her current position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/President. Shortly after in 2009, CEA, Inc. became certified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office. CEA, Inc. is also certified by the Woman’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), an accomplishment that they also achieved in 2009.
In its almost 30 year history, the firm has made a conscious decision to invest in people, technology, management, and project tracking systems to outperform the competition when it comes to site characterization and permanent site closure. CEA continues to achieve its goals of steady growth with modest increases in revenue and client base as we approach our 8,000th project.
