Econet Group is a multi-service company operating in the water and environmental technology sector. It consists of the parent company, Econet Ltd, and Oy Slamex Ab (supply, maintenance and spare parts services for equipment used in water, wastewater and sludge treatment and purification of industrial process water). We also undertake planning and project management tasks for our clients.

The skilled employees of Econet  have extensive experience and a proven track record in water supply and wastewater treatment projects worldwide. Since its foundation, Econet has continued to develop its services and its expertise in the environmental and, especially, the wastewater sectors for the benefit of its clients.

Econet Ltd's quality system is based on ISO 9001:2008 standard. In December 2011 Bureau Veritas Certification Finland awarded Econet the ISO2001 Certificate as a mark of well-functioning quality system.

Econet Group's turnover is approximately 20 million euros and the Group employs 70 people.

Econet Ltd was previously known by the name Econet Engineering Ltd. As we are these days much more than an engineering agency, we changed our name to the shorter and more precise Econet Ltd.

Brief history

Econet Ltd’s history goes back to the start of the 21st century. Reorganisation of the environmental activities at Skanska in 2002 resulted in those activities being acquired by a small group led by Econet’s current CEO, Matti Leppäniemi, who established Econet Engineering Ltd. Since then, Econet has expanded with a clear purpose.

Oy Slamex Ab, known and respected in Finland and abroad as a supplier of equipment, was acquired in 2005. In spring 2009 Econet expanded again by acquiring YIT's water and environmental business for the newly established ECO Environment Ltd Oy. Through this acquisition Econet gained the services of 23 specialists and technical expertise in processes and equipment, together with customer references, relating to water and waste water treatment plants, and sludge, biowaste and biogas treatment plants – a history that goes back as far as 100 years ago. After operating succesfully two and a half year period ECO Environment Ltd Oy was merged to its mother company Econet Ltd in order to improve operative business.

In 2010 Econet strengthened its position in the area of industrial process and wastewater treatment by acquiring the business operations of Siccotec Ltd. Siccotec owns a well-known patented sludge treatment method, an essential part of which are the SICCO sacks, intended for drying sludge, which are well suited for drying both small and large volumes of sludge prior to its transfer to a hazardous waste plant for further processing.

The ongoing need for maintenance services and spare parts for the equipment prompted Econet to invest in maintenance and spare parts services at the beginning of 2011. Econet acquired the business operations of Kone-Oskari Ltd, which has been based in the town of Kerava for the past twenty years.

The two above-mentioned business activities have been transferred to Econet's subsidiary, as part of Oy Slamex Ab's business activities.

In 2013 Econet Ltd acquired the majority shares of the DWT Group Ltd., which owns 100% shares of the DEWACO Ltd.  DEWACO Ltd. is a manufacturer and supplier of quality products for water and waste water treatment like sludge dewatering units and sludge removal units. During its history of over 25 years Dewaco has achieved a strong position in international markets.
