In the Beginning
For nearly two decades, Ken Murphy owned an oil and gas production company that drilled, produced, and operated wells throughout the state of Oklahoma.
During the mid-1990s, as governmental regulations grew to be more stringent while oil and gas prices fell to all time lows, it became obvious that operators needed a more cost-effective and common sense means of maintaining regulatory compliance.
One of the things Ken determined was that hydrocarbon-contaminated soil could usually be treated on site, not only saving his company the cost of trucking and disposal fees, but also eliminating the potential long-term liability of moving contaminated soil to another location.
In October of 1994, Ken and his wife, Linda, founded Enviro Clean Services, L.L.C. as an oilfield remediation company and distributor of environmental products. Enviro Clean’s cost-effective approach to remediation was accepted by both government officials and operators, whose job costs were reduced to less than half of typical dig and haul proposals.
