Ganz Engineering and Energy Production Machinery LLC. established in 2008 is a Hungarian-Russian joint venture and plays an important role in custom energy industry machine production and in the manufacture of hydro-machinery, pumps, turbines, nuclear power station and oil industry equipment, offering comprehensive solutions from design to production, from commissioning to maintenance.
Since 2008 Ganz EEPM has belonged to the Rosatom group, which encompasses the entire Russian nuclear energy industry. Its owners are the Hungarian Ganz Holding Zrt. (49%) and the majority shareholder, the Russian concern Atomenergomash (51%), which includes more than 50 Russian and other foreign engineering and energy industry machine manufacturing companies.
Ganz EEPM is a medium sized company with a staff of 170 and an annual turnover of some EUR 20 million.
In possession of the more than 150 year-old Hungarian energy production machinery manufacturing know-how the company has unique knowledge and experience in Hungary and Central Europe in the field of planning and manufacturing individual small-series products: small, medium-sized and large pumps, water turbines, power plant fuel handling machines.
Innovation has been a century-old tradition at the company, which is indicated by that in 2009 the company won the Industrial Innovation Grand Prize with its welded casing double-suction pumps, and in 2012 it was awarded the Hungarian Product Grand Prize. The company is successful both on the Hungarian and world market: its high capacity power plant pumps are also in demand in the Russian and Ukrainian nuclear energy branch. Due to the professional knowledge and flexibility of the company’s highly qualified and experienced staff we can completely satisfy our customers’ special demands.
Following the death of Ganz, in 1867 András Mechwart took over the management of the factory, who invented the hard-cast fluted steel mill cylinder and the roller mill, which revolutionized the world’s mill industry from Australia to North America. Under Mechwart’s leadership Ganz became one of the largest machine factories in Europe, where agricultural machines, complete mills, steam engines, railway wagons, ships, hydro-machinery and many other products were manufactured.
Mechwart recognized the significance of electricity in development, and set up an electric division. Excellent engineers worked for Ganz. Nikola Tesla, the inventor of the polyphase electric system, the alternating current motor and the radio, worked for Ganz at the beginning of his career.
Kálmán Kandó was the first person in the world to develop the phase-changing electric locomotive, which revolutionized railway traction, and György Jendrassik’s famous diesel engines enabled Ganz to supply 2,000 diesel locomotives and multiple-unit trains to numerous countries in the world from Argentina to China. The high rank of energy production machinery manufacturing and planning performed at Ganz is indicated by that the concept of the power plant built at the Niagara Falls was also elaborated by the engineers of Ganz. Numerous other technological priorities are also associated with the name of Hungarian engineers, such as the turbo generator or the propeller-type pumps developed on the basis of Viktor Kaplan’s water turbine with adjustable blades, which significantly increased the capacity of the pumps. During the company’s history of nearly 170 years the factories of Ganz were struck by war, economic and political crises, but the devotion, diligence and ingenuity of the managers, engineers and workers, their mentality of “we know it and we do it” and their high quality work guaranteed and still guarantees the company’s future.
The world around us is changing continuously. Those who want to keep up with and answer challenges must prepare for future changes in the present. Ganz EEPM, continuing the innovative traditions of Hungarian energy production machinery manufacturing, intends to play a leading role in developing the products of the future, contributing by this to the sustainable development of Hungarian industry.
Ganz EEPM, by continuously improving the quality of its products and services, intends to fulfil the increasing expectations of the market, the clients and the owners. During the development, planning and manufacturing of the company’s products of world standard it lays special emphasis on the aspects of sustainable development, energy efficiency and environmental consciousness. It also pays special attention to developing human resources with high professional and human qualities.
