About us
We love water. And we protect it, with our commitment and with our products. It was no different in 1949 when the company “Wasserchemie und Apparatebau” was founded by Josef and Loni Grünbeck. In the early years, the company traded in water treatment products without actually manufacturing them. Even in the earliest days of the company, Grünbeck was characterised by involvement on a level playing field. The relationship with employees was one of partnership, communication was transparent, and great value was placed on a corporate culture based on mutual respect.
In 1967, Josef Grünbeck commissions construction of his company's new administrative and production building in Höchstädt an der Donau. In 1968 employees' participation in the company is given a new and official form with the Grünbeck “Social Partnership” model. Grünbeck intensifies the development and manufacture of its own water treatment products, and in 1980 starts operating under the name of Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH At the same time, sales companies are set up in several European countries. In 1995 the company receives certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 and country-specific certificates, for example GOSSTANDART and UDT. This paves the way for dynamic, international growth.
Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH's commitment to keeping water pure is rewarded with the Bavarian Quality Award. The award, which was first given in 1993, honours not only municipalities in Bavaria but also Bavarian companies that “drive forward company-wide quality assurance concepts with innovative solutions”. For Grünbeck, the award is a clear confirmation that its commitment to the highest quality is the right strategy.
In 1998 Grünbeck receives certification for medical products. Measures such as certification in accordance with the environmental management system in 2004 underline Grünbeck's aspiration to transparently connect responsibility for people and the environment with efficient corporate activity. This is borne out by the 4-star award by “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Partnerschaft in der Wirtschaft e. V.” (AGP) for a corporate culture of active partnership.
In 2009, Grünbeck's development project “Decentralised water supply for Brazil” receives an award as a “flagship project for 2009'. One year later, the company expands further in Europe with the establishment of Grünbeck Italia S.r.l. and the Dutch company Waterzuivering B.V. In 2010, the Loni and Josef Grünbeck Foundation is set up, which ensures the independence of the Höchstädt-based company for the long term.
In 2012, Grünbeck opens the “Grünbeck Forum”. The new, four-storey building becomes a place that sets standards in education for water and water treatment. Grünbeck continues to grow: In August 2013 the number of employees in Höchstädt exceeds 500 for the first time. At this point in time, Grünbeck has 25 sites in Germany and is represented in all the key markets worldwide by another 250 employees.
Grünbeck was quick to take advantages of digital opportunities. In 1998, we launched our first website. For many years, Grünbeck's apps have offered partners and customers a plethora of planning and product information. The latest digital update took place in March 2015. Hand in hand with the honing of our brand profile and the redesign of our corporate designs comes our website relaunch. At www.gruenbeck.de, we present our employee expertise and product features, our commitment to water as a resource, our educational establishment, our technologies and our 60-year company history, now in an even more attractive form and with even more information than before.
Values and Mission
For us, innovation is not an end in itself. It does not simply serve to increase economic success. Our ideas are instead an important contribution to caring for water and making its quality available to us human beings. Since the foundation of our company, we have always been a driving force in innovating water treatment. This is demonstrated by numerous patents, which admittedly we're quite proud of. But something else is more important: Thanks to superb experts in the Grünbeck team, we are in a position to successfully meet the increasingly complex challenges of water treatment, now and in the future. And perhaps that's the best news of all.
Today, the Grünbeck corporate group employs around 800 experts, all committed specialists. Together, they make Grünbeck one of the most successful and respected water treatment companies in Europe. Our sales, which have risen continuously, currently stand at around 130 million euros p.a. Grünbeck has sites across the whole of Germany and worldwide in all key markets in order to guarantee closeness to our customers.
At Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH, we work specifically towards giving people across the whole world access to perfectly hygienic water. With excellence, expertise, powerful products and communication, Grünbeck is committed to providing long-term access to clean water.
Everyone is familiar with water, but many know hardly anything about how easy it is to significantly increase its quality. That's why we also communicate our knowledge to the general public and specifically inform the water professionals whose job it is to preserve the value of water. An important platform here is the renowned “Grünbeck Forum” training centre at the company headquarters in Höchstädt. Here, experienced water specialists communicate industry news and knowledge about innovative water treatment solutions to experts from the sanitation, heating and cooling sector, the food industry and energy production in seminars and training courses. These solutions include products for drinking water treatment as well as systems for water treatment for heating and cooling systems or swimming pools.
Grünbeck products are a byword for quality of life and value preservation. To ensure that this remains the case, we support our customers over the entire life cycle of our systems for water treatment: in planning, design, manufacture and maintenance. In this process, we take account of all the premises relevant for our field and corroborate our product quality with certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 as well as numerous country-specific quality certificates. Ecological aspects are also important to us: Grünbeck is therefore certified in accordance with the environmental management system DIN EN ISO 14001.
We assume responsibility not only for products and processes, but also in staff leadership and the social environment in which the company operates. The “Grünbeck participation model of social partnership” was established in 1968. In 2011, the “Loni and Josef Grünbeck Foundation” was set up to ensure a stable shareholder structure and thus ensure a solid future for the company. And last but not least, Grünbeck acts as a committed educator and local sponsor at its locations. For example, in Germany, Grünbeck supports the football Bundesliga club FC Augsburg, and internationally, it supports water treatment projects in Brazil and Haiti.
