GUTERMANN has often been the first to introduce a new technology or advanced technical features. For the last 10 years we have put tireless efforts into realising our vision of a completely automatic, unmanned and permanent network monitoring system, one which allows the user to identify and pinpoint leaks - even small and difficult ones - anywhere in the water network. From the Control Room, the water loss manager can review, in real-time, his entire distribution network, and analyse problematic network districts and pinpoint existing and new leaks in seconds. Thanks to the powerful and attractive ZONESCAN NET user interface and measurement database, the operator can use invaluable current and historic network data to track the state of his pipe network, perform benchmarking between different sectors, thus helping to anticipate negative network events such as pipe breakages. The system allows the smart utility to take informed asset management decisions, such as optimal repair work and pipe replacement times. Smart cities use Intelligent Water Loss Management from GUTERMANN.

ZONESCAN NET, along with the newly released products ZONESCAN NBIOT and ZONESCAN NET, is our fixed network platform. Since the first few installations of ZONESCAN ALPHA, we have continued to hone and perfect both the hardware and the software. In 2010, after extensive testing by the client, GUTERMANN delivered the largest such permanent network monitoring installation in the world to a country in the Gulf region. At the same time, a city in Germany scaled up their successful pilot site to cover the entire city network. Within days of installation, the system found a massive leak. Over the course of the next month, leaks found and repaired paid back for the costs of the system entirely. The results were striking, and have continued to impress. In 2021, Zonescan NBIOT saw successful installations in Lebanon, PA, and Logan, Australia, to name only two. Read more about our success stories in the Success Story section.
GUTERMANN is a proud technology partner of a number of world-leading multi-billion turnover technology companies. All of them have recognised that GUTERMANN has a unique product portfolio and a clear technological advantage in its field.
Corporate Social Responsibility
GUTERMANN is very proud to be able to give back to the world community. For more than 65 years, our company has been striving to make the best products that will help the utilities in this world to reduce water loss from leak pipes, the number one fresh water waster that exists still today. We think that we have come a long way and achieved real impact in the technological area.
At the same time there are countless other organisations and inviduals that are doing THEIR best to improve the water and sanitation situation for those parts of this world's population that are not as fortunate as us.
In 2014, GUTERMANN has started to donate money to specific projects that we are going to present in this space, inviting YOU too to get excited about them and donate money to these projects.
GUTERMANN is a world leader in acoustic leak detection technology. Our product range covers all areas of traditional acoustic leak detection. Most recently, thanks to our Permanent Network Monitoring technologies, we have established ourselves as the leaders of Intelligent Water Loss Management.
Intelligent Water Loss Management is a holistic approach to leak detection. The overarching method is to use permanent network monitoring technology in your water distribution network in order to track all leak related events and non-events in one centralised management platform and real-time, follow through with events through managed event ticketing from alarm to repair, and gain complete transparency over the condition of your pipe network. When an alarm is generated somewhere in your network, you first perform online analysis of the specified event. If necessary, you go onsite and perform additional localisation and leak listening work, using conventional leak detection equipment such as ground microphones and leak noise correlators. Once the appropriate action has been taken (leak repair, pipe replacement, or only continuous surveillance of the leak), you feed back the action and respective location, leak information, pipe data or other information (such as previously unknown PRVs, electro generators or leaky house connections) into the management system. This way you continue to build ever better knowledge of your water network which will help you take more effective decisions about your pipe network (such as pipe replacement cycles or appropriateness of various pipe materials). Gutermann covers the full product range for you to become an intelligent utility.
- Permanent Network Monitoring
Permanent Network Monitoring technologies allow utilities to identify and pinpoint leaks in their monitored pipe network moments after occurrence and initiate appropriate actions. Permanently installed intelligent sensors provide daily information (noise level histograms, frequency spectrum, correlation data, actual sound recordings) and therefore provide the operator with the best possible solution in terms of acoustic leak detection capabilities.
- Acoustic Microphones
Providing superior sensors and greater amplification than most other acoustic leak detectors in the market, the Aquascope product range will help leakage operators find more leaks.
- Leak Noise Correlators
Our high-performance leak locating correlators are appreciated by customers for their physical robustness, their elegant design, their long-term reliability and their ease-of-use. Lab tests have also shown that the performance and accuracy of our correlators are among the highest in the industry. Choose between various levels of correlators that can be used in standard situations or more difficult environments (including trunk main leak detection).
- Correlating Leak Noise Loggers
GUTERMANN's Zonescan 820 product range is cutting-edge and outperforms all other loggers available on the market. They are extremely small and robust, have the highest sensitivity, the strongest radio (proprietary radio), smart firmware, and nonetheless an impressively long battery-life. But most importantly, our loggers do not only provide noise-level data and advanced spectrum analysis, but they can also correlate and are therefore able to pinpoint leaks with high accuracy.
- Pipe & Valve Locators
Our pipe and valve locators complete the range of acoustic leak detection equipment. Our equipment is designed to be effective and easy to use.
The Full Correlation Factor
GUTERMANN has pioneered the concept of Full Correlation with the development of ZONESCAN ALPHA for water distribution pipe networks. To date ZONESCAN 820 correlating loggers are the only platform worldwide capable of providing daily and fully automatic correlation…
between all relevant logger pairs in a sensor network, providing pinpointed leak locations with an accuracy of below 1 metre. No manual triggering of correlations is therefore required to investigate suspicious locations. Thanks to Full Correlation the Gutermann Cloud Services software is able to reduce to a minimum both the False Positives (false alarms often caused by individual sensors in noise level alarm mode) and the False Negatives (leaks not picked up without automatic correlation because of their distance to the loggers causing their noise levels to fall below the ambient noise around the logger).
