The company was founded in 1979. G.V.S. received its name – GVS Gesellschaft für die Verbrennung auf See mbH & Co.KG – in 1984. We have been operating in the field of special waste disposal for over 25 years and are proud to number a multitude of large-scale enterprises, as well as small and medium-sized businesses among our customers. our competitive edge lies in our core competence of recycling special liquid waste.
It was at that time that tank farm operations began in the port of Mannheim-Rheinau. After technically competent disposal facilities for liquid solvents established themselves on land, the Federal Republic of Germany discontinued incineration at sea in 1989. As a result, G.V.S. consistently expanded its range of services in the field of special waste disposal around the core business of tank farm operations. Integration of WESTAB activities in 1994 contributed towards this expansion of the range of services.
In 1995 this development was taken account of by changing the company’s name to G.V.S. Gesellschaft für die Verwertung von Sonderabfällen mbH & Co.KG, substituting the “incineration at sea” part of its name with “recycling of special waste”. Company headquarters were finally moved to Mannheim in 2004. This is where G.V.S. now has its administrative base on Friesenheim Island and the tank farm in the port of Rheinau.
The partners of G.V.S. are Süd-Müll GmbH & Co.KG in Hessheim and HIM GmbH in Biebesheim.
As a service company in the waste disposal industry we have devoted ourselves above all to two goals:
- Gearing ourselves to our customers’ requirements and
- recycling and disposing of the waste we have been entrusted with in a proper and environmentally sound way.
In the pursuit of these goals we are assisted by a non-hierarchical, easily surveyed corporate structure that allows uncomplicated decision-making, a high degree of employee accessibility, as well as many years’ experience and consistent further training in handling hazardous waste materials.
As always, our competitive edge lies in our core competence of recycling special liquid waste. However, by developing a network with competent and reliable partners we have long had a tailored and tested solution on hand for almost any other type of special waste or complex disposal assignment.
Our employees are involved in drawing up our corporate goals and guidelines. This guarantees a high level of identification with the company and reinforces the concept of teamwork. They have extensive experience in their areas of expertise, studying and training further on a regular basis. Training programmes are prepared for this purpose. Intensive and open communication ensures that each employee looks beyond his/her own area and doesn’t lose sight of the complete operation.
We also draw on our own resources for young blood. Training young people has been a major factor for us for many years.
