Hyde is proud of our 130-year heritage in the Marine industry and of our leadership position in the Industrial Fluid Management markets.

Hyde is a respected supplier of equipment and services to the Marine market, particularly on the U.S. Great Lakes, but also globally. We produce and sell deck machinery, steering systems, oil/water separators and marine chemicals. Hyde is the U.S. Distributor for Kvaerner Eureka firefighting systems and recently introduced Eagle stern tube bearings and shaft seals to the U.S. market. We also produce marine electronic equipment through a subsidiary, Hyde Marine Systems.

Hyde has been actively involved in researching and developing techniques to control the spread of non-indigenous aquatic organisms in ship's ballast water. Hyde works with leading suppliers to provide effective Ballast Water Treatment technologies including the Hyde Marine Ballast Water Treatment (Hyde Guardian™). Hyde also offers other water and waste water treatment solutions including UV disinfection and filtration.

The Hyde Windlass Company was established in Bath, Maine in 1865 and was a dominant name in the marine industry for more than 100 years. The Hyde marine machinery product line was moved to Cleveland in 1969 and reincorporated as Hyde Products, Inc.

Hyde has continued to design and build hydraulic deck machinery and steering systems. We remain active in a diminishing US Marine market by providing quality products of our own design and from noted European manufacturers, and offering new technology solutions to our customers. Hyde developed specialized environmental equipment, including the USCG Certified Hyde bilge oil/water separator.

Hyde entered the Oil Spill Response Equipment market in 1978, becoming the exclusive U.S. Distributor for the Destroil skimming package. Success with the high performance DESMI Archimedes Screw pumps and Weir Skimmers positioned us to expand our product line and to better serve our customers. In 2003, Hyde partnered with Lamor Corporation Ab of Finland to establish a new manufacturing company, Lamor Corp. LLC, located at Hyde's headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. Lamor LLC was responsible for the North, South and Central America markets and the Caribbean.

In 2008 Lamor Group expanded its business operations to new fields of environmental technology by acquiring full ownership of Hyde Marine.

Hyde is active in the worldwide effort to control the spread of aquatic invasive species in ship's ballast water. Hyde Marine's close association with the Great Lakes shipping community and focus on marine environmental problems led to our early involvement in testing of Ballast Water Treatment Technologies. Hyde marine supplied the first fully operational shipboard Ballast Water Treatment, which was installed and has been on the 'Regal Princess' since May 2000.

In 2003, after the requirements were better defined, Hyde installed a state-of-the-art filtration and UV disinfection system aboard the Coral Princess.  This system, named the Hyde Guardian™, was tested extensively on land based installations and on board the Coral Princess in the fall of 2004. The on-board tests demonstrated the Hyde Guardian's™ capability to meet the IMO BWT Convention requirements. This system is now first in line for acceptance into the U.S. Coast Guard STEP program.

In the fall of 2006 an essentially identical system was installed aboard RCCL's Celebrity Mercury.  It was commissioned early in 2007. The Hyde Guardian™ systems aboard the Coral Princess and Mercury were granted interim approval for use in Washington State waters by the State of Washington in 2004 and 2007 respectively. All seven systems were commercial transactions and the newest version, the Hyde Guardian™, has been fully commercially available since early 2003.
