Biofiltration is a pollution control technique using living material to capture and biologically degrade process pollutants. Common uses include processing waste water, capturing harmful chemicals or silt from surface runoff and microbiotic oxidation of contaminants in air. A biofilter is a bed of plastic random packing or other media on which microorganisms attach and grow to form a biological layer. Plastic random packing is an ideal media for this allocation due to its design and corrosion resistance.
Degasification is the removal of dissolved gases from liquids, especially water and aqueous solutions. A packed column may be utilized in this process. The packed column design may include plastic random packing.
The process of removing unwanted pollutants from a gas stream. Industrial exhaust is moved through a specifically designed vessel typically referred to as a scrubber. The scrubber uses liquid to wash unwanted pollutants from a gas stream. Scrubber designs can vary greatly depending on the type of pollutant being removed from the gas stream, the percentage of removal required and the amount of gas moving through the scrubber. Typically scrubber designs include internals such as random packing, mist eliminators,...
Air Stripping is the transferring of volatile components of a liquid into an air stream. This process is used for the purification of groundwater and wastewater containing volatile compounds. Air Strippers are usually packed towers operated with a countercurrent flow of water and air. The design for Air Strippers involves a packed tower which includes plastic random packing it its design. The size of the packed tower and plastic random packing is determined by the air to water flow rates. Since many of the...
