Kennedy Valve Plant and Industrial Group

Kennedy Valve Plant and Industrial Group began producing valves in 1997 after American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) decided to exit the metal seated gate valve market (AWWA C-500). Kennedy Valve Plant and Industrial Group only pursues treatment plant projects and pump stations leaving line work to our sister divisions within McWane (Kennedy Valve, M&H Valve or Clow Valve). The exception is where the specification requires either our double Rotating Disc or solid wedge gate valves. All of our offerings are marketed through exclusive manufacturer’s representatives across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. We market through Clow Canada and McWane International throughout the world.

Company History

Founded more than a century ago, American R/D is widely known as an industry leader in gate valve manufacturing.

From our humble beginnings as the Darling Pump Company back in 1900, American R/D has risen as a model of American dedication and ingenuity. In 1969, the company was purchased by the American Cast Iron Pipe Company and relocated to our current home state of Alabama. Here, in the heart of the South, we reaffirmed our reputation as an American company successfully serving customers around the world.

In 2006, McWane, Inc. took note of this reputation, as American R/D became an official member of the renowned McWane Valve and Hydrant group in Anniston, Ala. As a part of McWane, we’ve continued working hard to create innovative offerings for customers everywhere. These offerings range in both size and different types of valves from 2’’ up to 108’’. So, whether the customer’s need is large or small, American R/D has the products and the history to fulfill it.

Thanks to our long and well-known history dating back to the late 1800s, American R/D has more metal seated gate valve manufacturing and engineering experience than anyone in the industry. Our Rotating Disc gate valve, through constant upgrades, has been in continuous production for over 100 years. Make sure you ask for the industry leader — American R/D valves.
