Lextran is a privately held company specializing in sulfur oxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) catalytic pollutant removal in an open spray tower technology. Lextran’s first generation catalyst has pioneered single-step removal of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Second generation of its catalyst development resulted in a significant improvment of de-SNOx removal quality . Lextran`s patented technology introduces a simple, multi-pollutant removal process that requires minimum equipment and only liquid reagents, as well as a relatively small footprint, and is considerably less costly in terms of investment and operation than technologies that treat each pollutant separately.
Lextran Ltd. developed a unique Air Quality Control (AQC) technology which is both with high efficiency and very cost effective. The technology is based on the prevailing open spray tower concept, and achieves combined removal of Sulfur Oxide (SOx) and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) from combustion flue gases emitted from power stations and other facilities burning fossil fuel.
Lextran’s patented AQC has been tested in a variety of implementations ranging from power units burning coal, small LNG boilers with tight space constraints for AQC equipment, treating coke-oven emissions, treating the challenging pollution coming out from the steel sintering machines, and low temperature NOx removal.
Lextran's technology either meets or substantially exceeds all international regulatory requirements, including almost complete removal of SOx, 85% - 95% removal of NOx and partial removal of particles. In addition, Lextran's process yields a valuable, commercial-grade fertilizer as byproduct.
Lextran's technology is applicable to different types of target customers, such as coal and heavy fuel fired power plants and industrial installations, diesel power plants, solid waste management incinerators and any other combustion plant emitting SOx and NOx.
Since all of the Lextran air-control processes are implemented in an open spray tower, the prevailing environment to de-SOx, there are several niche applications of the Lextran technology which are unique and particular to it. For example:
the ability to upgrade and /or retrofit existing WFGD towers to improve SOx removal, and/or introduce NOx control in addition to the de-SOx
provides an elegant solution to all the small coal-fired boilers that to date are typically exempt from emission control because of economical and operational small scale considerations.
To enable a very cost effective and versatile SOx NOx and emission control technology that can be widely implemented in the prevailing open spray tower environment to reduce any boiler’s pollutant or toxic emissions to the stringent emission standards.
