Lührfilter Ltd. are the wholly owned subsidiary of LUEHR FILTER GmbH based in Stadthagen Germany. We have been operating in the UK market since 1974 and are able offer a complete range of services from supply only to complete ‘Turnkey’ installations.

Our filter systems can be supplied with any of five cleaning system options to provide ‘On-Line’ or ‘Off-Line’ cleaning. We supply systems with either vertically or horizontally orientated filter elements. These options allow us to tailor our filters to suit specific applications.

Within our manufacturing group we have a fabric manufacturing company which gives us control on the selection of filter media and additionally the filter elements and support cages are manufactured in our own works. This level of control allows us to offer with confidence guarantees of low emission and extended filter element life.

To complement our range of filters for high temperature applications we manufacture evaporative coolers and forced convection heat exchangers which in certain processes can be used as recuperators.

In addition to the abatement of dusts and fume we are able to offer our dry gas adsorption systems for the reduction of acidic elements ( SO2, SO3, HF, HCl,) Dioxins and heavy metals (Mercury Cadmium etc.).

Waste to Energy (WtE)

Previously the only option for disposal of domestic and municipal waste was through landfill sites. This was costly to local councils and companies in terms of landfill taxes, and was not sustainable indefinitely due to the availability of suitable sites. Through the development of incineration and energy technology, a new alternative is available which converts such waste materials into power. Waste to Energy Facilities (WtE) provide a solution to many waste management problems and also contributes to our need for sources of Renewable Energy.

During the incineration process ash residue, acidic gases, dioxins and heavy metals are generated within the waste gas, for which emissions to atmosphere must be reduced to below legal air quality standards. All incineration processes in the EU must conform to the Waste Incineration Directive (WID) which details very stringent limits for emissions of these by-products. In the UK this is regulated by the Environment Agency.

Lührfilter provides the Air Pollution Control Technology, to reduce emission limits excessively below those set within WID. Through our custom designed dry sorption processes, using a range of additives (such as Activated Carbon, Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, Na2CO3, NaHCO3 etc.) and specialised gas conditioning equipment, we reduce waste gas temperatures to the ideal levels for chemical reaction with adsorption reagents. Patented equipment such as the Lühr Conditioning Rotor, ensure ideal reaction conditions with the additives. Additionally the Lühr KUV additive recirculation system ensures fully efficient use of additive material, vastly reducing plant operating costs. The specialised range of Lühr Flat Bag Filters ensures the collection of ash residue and spent additive, prior to the treated gases being released to atmosphere.

Biomass to Energy

As part of the global strategy on the use of Renewable Energy, Biomass provides an ever increasing role in the generation of power, through the incineration of plant matter (typically waste wood, wood chips, dead trees etc.) to produce electricity and/or heat. These fuels are incinerated to provide the necessary heat to operate steam turbines or gasification plants, which in turn produce electricity to power stand alone industrial processes, or to be fed back into the national grid.
