History
In 1927, while Lindberg was making the first transatlantic solo flight, Thomas Gresham Redden opened a small independent insurance agency in Greensboro, NC. Insurance policies were delivered in small black metal boxes, probably transported in Ford’s new Model A. Fast forward eighty-five years and you find Senn Dunn Insurance thriving as one of the largest privately owned independent agencies in the southeast. Senn Dunn serves clients throughout the United States specializing in business insurance, employee benefits and personal insurance with recognized industry expertise in construction, education, environmental, social services and financial services - just to name a few.
Consistent growth has distinguished our agency from competitors, and while many agencies were being purchased by banks in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, Senn Dunn joined forces with other agencies that shared a similar vision of a professional and progressive business, while expanding capabilities to serve the varying needs of clients. As a result of these strategic moves, we now have five office locations across North Carolina - Greensboro established in 1927, High Point in 2004, Raleigh in 2006, Wilmington in 2007, and Charlotte in 2013.
Recognizing that our client’s increasing business needs mirrored our own, the Senn Dunn leadership team moved to expand from our core insurance services and products. By the year 2000, we had added an employee benefits division and a human resource consulting division. Today, our teams of professionals connect value to our clients by delivering superior services in claims, risk management and safety, wellness, ergonomics, as well as bilingual capabilities.
With over 140 professionals serving clients today from our five locations, you might say we are still small enough for the personal touch, yet big enough to handle insurance needs around the world. And, while the Senn Dunn of today would hardly be recognizable to its founders, the core principles of the business remain steadfast – dealing with customers honestly, professionally and respectfully.
