The days are now long gone when Giacomo Masotina travelled around Milan and its hinterland collecting paper and cardboard with pure pedal power: this was 1937, when he began his craft. Since then the Masotina family have undertaken a transformation process which, down through the generations, has changed the family firm into an industrial Group providing services and solutions for the environment.
Here are the main stages:
Giacomo Masotina, the founder, started business. In 1962, in via San Dionigi in Milan, the first production plant was set up, where entrepreneurial spirit gradually develops the business. In Rozzano, after only a few years, a new structure was set up alongside the pre-existing one, on a site covering 10,000 m2.
The family firm becomes a Limited Company, and then a Public Limited Company.
The Group settles into its new premises in Corsico (near Milan), on a site covering 60,000 m2; in 1989, the group acquires the Cartiera di Modena.
The Corsico plant was transformed into a multi-function centre and began treating special, dangerous refuse and urban-type solid refuse.
The Group began its Environmental Quality process.
Environmental Certification granted under UNI EN ISO 14001.
EC Regulation N°1836/93 EMAS licence granted, number I – 00071
Quality certificate achievement, according to the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 standard and accomplishment to ISO 14001:2004 standard.
Masotina spa still on target after 70 years.
Our ideas about our legacy
... passing on the future
The quality of our commitment to services for the environment has been Masotina Group's characteristic over the last three generations.
At Masotina we think this is a task which goes beyond our company duty. As a service company involved in environmental protection, we want to be a glowing example of consistency. We want to work hard so that our business has as small an environmental impact as possible, and to involve everyone in the ISO 14001 - ISO 9001 and EMAS certification process for production work at our Corsico premises.
