Max-Atlas began serving the transportation industry through its predecessors in 1962, when Ernest Varga, father of the current company president, and Andrew Morena created two trucking companies, Camionnage Metro Inc. and President Transport, which specialized in the distribution of frozen and refrigerated products for the food industry.
In 1980, they joined forces to open a maintenance and repair business for their own trailers as well as for third-party resale, while at the same time starting a trailer leasing company. Their experience developing these businesses gave the owners unique technical expertise in the field or semi-trailers.
In 1994, Ernest Varga retired, handing the corporate reigns to his son Tibor Varga. A well-organized and methodical businessman, Tibor keeps the company solidly on track through his structured management approach and careful business planning.
Under Tibor Varga's leadership, Max-Atlas adopted a new direction in its continuing success story: Tibor and his team led the company into the trailer manufacturing field. Although they began without a single client, the company's established expertise, talent and reputation have allowed it to grow more than ever. Today, Max-Atlas occupies new manufacturing facilities - five times larger than its previous location - and foresees annual production of 2000 to 3000 trailers.
The new venture saw Max-Atlas quickly pull ahead of its competitors through its unique line of innovative container chassis: specialized, multipurpose semi-trailers. Carriers can now move different-sized containers with just one trailer.
