NatronX is a supplier of EnProve, a line of sodium alkali sorbents as well as powerful DSI technology solutions that combine to efficiently remove harmful stack gases. Dry sorbent injection (DSI) technology offers effective removal of SO2, SO3, HCl and HF from coal fired boilers, biomass combustors and waste incinerators.

NatronX provides different sorbent options to meet your specific needs:

  • EnProve TR / trona (ready to inject as received)
  • EnProve BC / sodium bicarbonate (requires on-site milling)
  • EnProve MBC / pre-milled sodium bicarbonate (ready to inject as received)
  • EnProve SC / sodium sesquicarbonate (high purity sorbent; requires on-site milling)

Dry sorbent injection is a simple process to install and operate:

  • EnProve sorbents are injected into the flue gas through a dilute phase pneumatic conveying system.
  • The sorbent is introduced through lances or nozzles inserted through ports in the flue gas ductwork. Installation of small ports for the lances is the only modification required to the flue gas train.
  • Low capital retrofit.
  • Short lead time to implement.

The Story Begins
The EnProve story begins in Wyoming's Green River Basin and continues through transportation, storage, milling and injection. Trona-based EnProve products are mined in Wyoming's Green River Basin home to the world's largest deposit of natural trona ore. These ancient formations contain trona seams that go as deep as 3500 feet below the Earth's surface and contain enough trona to supply the world for thousands of years to come. Specially constructed longwall mining machines operate 1,500 feet underground efficiently mining the trona ore. Trona ore is hoisted to the surface where it is processed into sodium alkali products including EnProve sorbents for acid gas scrubbing applications.

Transportation
Now the EnProve sorbent is ready for shipment through our flexible network of transportation partners. EnProve TR and MBC are shipped via pressure differential railcar or pneumatic truck. EnProve SC and BC have additional shipping options including covered hopper railcar or bulk truck depending on the customer's logistical requirements. From transport to delivery and offloading, we manage every detail along the way to ensure product quality.

Storage & Milling
Upon arrival, the on-site pneumatic conveying offloads systems product from the truck or railcars into bulk silos and day bins. In most cases in-line milling is preferred for optimal performance. Mechanical devices, vibrators, air jets, air cannons and air pads are often employed to assist in discharging EnProve TR from silos.

EnProve TR may discharge directly into weighing devices, such as weigh bins, prior to being metered into either in-line mills or sent directly to the duct injection nozzles. Alternatively, the silo material may be transferred to a small 'shift' bin or 'day' bin and then metered from there to in-line mills or the injection system. Further reduction in the EnProve TR sizing is sometimes warranted to improve sorbent utilization and increase acid gas capture. Air classifying mills, pin mills and specially designed mills have been used for in-line milling of EnProve TR at customer's plants.

Different methods can be used to feed EnProve TR to the mills. Some customers feed the mills by gravity. There is also a 'blow-through' design where trona is pneumatically conveyed to the mill. Yet another design uses vacuum from a tail fan to 'pull' trona into the mill. Heat generated in the size reduction process causes a gradual build-up of scale in the mill that periodically requires removal by either washing or mechanical means.

Injection
A metering device control the flow of EnProve Sorbent to injection ports in the ductwork. EnProve technicians conduct comprehensive analysis and recommend permanent injection points where EnProve provides optimal adsorption rates.

Once injected into the gas stream containing SO2, SO3, HCl, and HF, EnProve efficiently adsorbs the acid gases. Taking a closer look, the particles 'pop' as they calcine into sodium carbonate and form deep pores exposing larger surface areas allowing for quick adsorption of the acid gases.

Reacted EnProve sorbent is then captured in the Electrostatic Precipitator or Baghouse along with the fly ash for removal.
