N.E.I. Treatment Systems
N.E.I. Treatment Systems is a pioneer and market leader in provisioning large commercial ships with Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS). N.E.I.’s VOS system was the first in the world to receive IMO approval (Liberia, 2007). N.E.I. enables its customers to cost-effectively comply with U.S. discharge regulations now law and being enforced, and the pending IMO discharge regulations that protect the world`s oceans and waterways from invasive aquatic plants and animals. N.E.I. to its global customers, thereby giving the Company unmatched ability to scale its operations and respond to customer requirements around the world.
In the rapidly evolving Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) industry, N.E.I. Treatment Systems stands out as a pioneer and global market leader. N.E.I.’s patented Venturi Oxygen Stripping™ (VOS™) System was the first Type Approved, commercially available BWTS on the market that ensures 100% compliance with the IMO’s Ballast Water Discharge Standards.
N.E.I. has been setting the pace for the BWTS industry since 2002:
- FIRST to complete shipboard trials of a BWTS using a deoxygenation and cavitation system
- FIRST to receive a BWTS Type Approval Certificate from a Flag Administration
- FIRST to receive multiple BWTS Type Approval Certificates
- FIRST to install BWTS aboard three major ship types - Tankers, Bulk Carriers and Container Vessels
- FIRST to successfully commission high volume BWTS with flow rate capacity greater than 6,000 m3/hour
- FIRST BWTS to provide the dual benefits of IMO compliance with a return on investment based on protecting ballast tanks against steel corrosion and deterioration of coatings
The United States has adopted in to law discharge standards for commercial vessels trading in its waters. The VOS system from NEI is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard under the Alternate Management System (AMS) program to treat ANY water type. This approval includes all salinity levels, turbidity levels and temperatures-something very few suppliers can claim. To address the pending IMO discharge standards ratification, NEI has obtained more audited type approvals than any other company with five flag states (Liberia, The Marshall Islands, Panama, Malta and The Netherlands). VOS treats all water types without the use of filtration, and without the need to re-treat or neutralize corrosive chemicals.
VOS™ Ballast Water Treatment Delivers
IMO Compliance AND A Compelling Return on Investment!
TheVOS™System induces a low oxygen environment within the ballast tanks which safely and cost-effectively eliminates harmful aquatic organisms without the use of active sub- stances. At the same time, this low oxygen, non-toxic environment also protects the ship's ballast tank coatings against degradation and corrosion of steel, thereby extending the useful life of ballast tanks to more than 35 years and delivering aBWTSreturn on investment.
N.E.I. Treatment Systems, LLC is headquartered in Long Beach, California and has been in business since 1997. Until 2002, the Company provided water treatment systems engineering and consulting to the Power and Oil industries. In 2002, N.E.I. began to focus exclusively on developing a technology solution to address the critical issues related to Ballast Water Treatment and Ballast Tank Proection.
Today, N.E.I. has achieved global reach with exclusive licensee, sales and service partnerships in twenty countries, including licensing of its VOS™ technology to strategic partners Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha, Ltd. in Japan and Samgong VOS Co., Ltd. in South Korea. In addition to having the exclusive rights to build and sell the VOS™ System within the Japanese and Korean markets, respectively, both Mitsubishi and Samgong manufacture and assemble VOS™ System components sold by N.E.I. to its global customers, thereby giving the Company unmatched ability to scale its operations and respond to customer requirements around the world.
