Founded in 2004, Orbital Systems quickly became the world leader in positioners and feeds used for EOS DB and GeoScience applications, and TT&C ground station antenna systems. Every aspect of the “user experience” matters. Our antenna positioners include external user controls for maintenance that promote safety and are designed to be simple and intuitive to operate. Our ACUs include setup and maintenance buttons that eliminate coordination with remote computer operators for use during installation and maintenance.
Should maintenance be required, most system components are easily replaceable without major disassembly, special tools or skills. All positioners are supplied with comprehensive toolkits and user maintenance manuals that permit modular replacement of most system components.

Downtime and maintenance due to system failures are costly. Orbital Systems set out to develop ground station products that have excellent Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and low Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). They are designed to need very little preventative maintenance over the course of their lifecycle. The key distinction of all Orbital products is that they are engineered and built to the highest level of performance in their class while being very reliable.
Superior performance and reliability is the result of engineering innovation, higher quality material choices, and manufacturing excellence. When new products are designed, the root causes of conventional product failures are analyzed, and design alternatives are chosen that eliminate the problem. Orbital Systems is vertically integrated and manufactures over 95% of the metal parts used in our positioners in house, and also designs and builds all major electronic subsystems used in our products. Our mechanical engineering and manufacturing use the latest technology in 3D modeling, CAD, CAM, and CNC technology.

Our State-of-the-Art Development and Manufacturing Facility
Orbital Systems houses a staff of highly qualified and multi-disciplined professionals, along with state-of-the-art design tools and automated manufacturing equipment, in an 19,000 square foot R&D and manufacturing facility. In the rear of the property is a one-acre antenna test range with pre-wired pads that support testing up to 4 systems simultaneously. We have almost 10,000 square feet of high bay assembly and manufacturing space with freight doors for both loading dock height and oversized door grade height loading.
The company is fully equipped to develop and rigorously test all of our antenna systems in-house to ensure that specifications for performance, reliability and durability are met.
The facility is ideally situated on land which is above nearby terrain and provides a good view to the horizon over a significant angle. This helps with evaluation of both low and high elevation antenna performance.
Before opening our doors, more than a year was spent designing and engineering the product we would take to market. Our vision was to provide a reliable, quality product that was designed and built to require little to no maintenance, with customer service as a priority. And we wanted to deliver it for a price that provided terrific value.
Since those early days, Orbital Systems’ product line has expanded to include three different positioner families and expanded to sell complete antenna systems into the EOS-DB and the TT&C markets. Orbital antenna positioners are also used in many new applications such as radar, UAV tracking, SARSAT, and general telemetry reception. Our focus remains on smaller antennas and systems in the 5 meter class and below.
Based on the longevity of our fielded equipment, positive customer feedback, and steady demand for the products - we are headed in the right direction.
Orbital Systems products and services are used by commercial and government entities all over the world.
With almost 200 systems in the field, you can find successful installations of Orbital Systems positioners and systems in more than 40 countries. Many systems are located in some of the most remote and environmentally challenging areas on the planet, such as exceptionally cold locations in the Arctic, Siberia, and Antarctica, in addition to very hot locations in the Middle East and wet, humid, and warm locations on the equator. Our customers report an exceptional performance record of greater than 10 years between failures on average with our antenna products.
Many of our products are sold through established partnerships with systems integrators and certified resellers. For some markets and for certain system configurations we also sell directly to end users.
