Quartix was founded in 2001 by four industry professionals who had a combined 80+ years (but who's counting!) experience in systems design, telemetry, embedded computing, communications and database design and implementation.

They felt that there was an opportunity for a system that made more extensive use of the tools and resources that are readily available on the Internet. Using the best in mapping systems, location databases, communications technology and Internet service providers Quartix set out to create a system that was easier to use than those on the market. This also brought the benefit of ensuring that the system would be accessible from standard browser and e-mail programs. There's no need for any changes to the user's set up, no dedicated machines, no software installation - if you have Internet access, you have everything you need.

Customer acceptance of the system has been excellent since then. Quartix now has more than 3600 customers, and the success of the company has been recognised by a number of prestigious business and product awards. The features of the system which are most commonly praised by users are:
