Being the “graduates” of a scientific research institute, which specializes in the development of chemical technologies, we know that no rational solution is possible for the implementation of these technologies without real-time measurement of their parameters. Moreover, stabilization of these parameters is impossible without automatic execution of the technological operations determining these variables. These circumstances defined our business strategy - the roadmap for the whole company: the way of chemical technology optimization through automatic control and management, i.e., utilizing computer-aided process control systems.
Taking into account the needs of the Russian Federation in the field of water treatment, the main activity of UNITOK was defined as “the use of intelligent process automation as a proven alternative for optimizing the existing reagent-based water treatment technologies to ensure supply of high-quality drinking water and to satisfy the needs of industrial enterprises.”
From the very beginning of our work in the chosen area of focus, the UNITOK specialists had a clear vision of the principles applicable to the devices being created: they should be new, advanced, corresponding to the 21st century, the characteristic features of which are computerization, informatics, and cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
As a result, following these principles, UNITOK has developed a whole range of new automated modular solutions for water treatment plants, including a Coagulant-Clarifier, an Automated Coagulant and Flocculant Dose Controller, a Chlorine Monitor, an Automatic Alkaline Doser, a Stabilization Water Treatment Module and a Filtering Equipment Washing Module (hereinafter jointly referred to as the UNITOK Modules).
Each of the UNITOK Modules is an independent local automated laboratory for monitoring and controlling a particular part of the reagent-based water treatment process. Each unit is compatible and may be incorporated into a larger computer-aided process control system ‘UNITOK.’ All the UNITOK automated control equipment may be easily integrated with any other computerized process control systems using standard information communication channels.
UNITOK mainly focuses on developing advanced solutions for new and reconstructed water treatment facilities, which provide drinking and technical water for a vast range of industrial, commercial, and municipal use. The UNITOK Modules, i.e., the technological laboratories for water treatment plants, are capable of measuring on a daily basis of approximately 6,000 variables of turbidity, chromaticity, pH, total alkalinity, active aqueous chlorine concentrations, working doses of coagulants and flocculants. There is also a possibility to verify the equipment diagnostic parameters which determine the accuracy of these technological measurements.
The UNITOK Modules provides automatic monitoring of the entire process chain, as well as automatic dosing of all the used reagents. The automated technological solutions for drinking water supply facilities developed by UNITOK are used in many cities of Russia and Kazakhstan, including: Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Ussuriysk, Novosibirsk, Kurgan, Kirov, Perm, Izhevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Novodvinsk, Severodvinsk and others, as well as the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Astana.
