SoundPLAN Nord ApS

SoundPLAN Nord ApS

SoundPLAN Nord ApS was established on July 1, 2004 by John Klinkby. The mission of the company was and still is simple: To distribute SoundPLAN within the Nordic and Baltic countries. Before SoundPLAN Nord ApS took over, SoundPLAN was distributed by the Danish Acoustical Institute (now DELTA Danish Electronics, Light & Acoustic) where John Klinkby as an employee was responsible for all SoundPLAN activities during the years 1999 - 2004. During that period the SoundPLAN activities grew from a small sideline to a time-consuming business in need of a full time caretaker. At the end of June 2004, SoundPLAN and John Klinkby left DELTA, but – as it was stated in the official announcement of the outgoing - DELTA will continue to cooperate with SoundPLAN in the evolution of the product, including support of developing Nordic methods in SoundPLAN®. DELTA is still involved in the testing of the implementation of new Nordic methods.

SoundPLAN® is produced by Braunstein + Berndt GmbH situated in Backnang some 25 km northeast to downtown Stuttgart in Germany. The company was established in 1986. In 1987 the first SoundPLAN module, Road Noise, was launched. Within a few years SoundPLAN was used by the road administrations in 15 of the 17 German states. Later, Deutsche Bundesbahn AG also began using SoundPLAN throughout the country.

In 1992 Braunstein + Berndt GmbH created an international distributor network for SoundPLAN and licensed representatives to provide product and service support to clients on a global basis. The same year, in 1992, the first license was sold to a Scandinavian company. Now SoundPLAN has grown to be one of the international leaders of acoustics software, used by many major cities, government agencies, universities and environmental and air pollution consulting firms around the world.
