The TVA (Target Variable Area) does not rely on measurement of differential pressure across the flowmeter, measuring instead the force generated by the deflection of the cone via a series of high quality strain gauges. Spirax Sarco - Model UTM10 Series - Non Intrusive Ultrasonic Liquid Flowmeter

Spirax Sarco Ultrasonic meters clamp-on to the outside of the pipe and measure fluid through the use of ultrasound signals. They do not come into contact with the fluid and therefore do not create pressure drop, or contaminate fluid.
