We offer simple, safe, low-cost solutions for the bioremediation of halogenated straight-chain and aromatic hydrocarbons, perchlorate, explosives such as aromatic nitrates, energetic munitions residuals, nitrates, acids, radionuclides, oxidized metals, and other contaminants. In 2011 inVentures Technologies Inc. formed a marketing partnership with Tersus. The convergence of Gas inFusion technology and in situ remediation technologies took a significant step forward as inVentures and Tersus formed their strategic alliance based on a shared vision for developing innovative sustainable green technologies for the remediation of soil and groundwater. By engaging the companies at the technology, marketing and business levels, the alliance allows both companies to provide the best biotechnology-based solutions to effectively manage complex, challenging environmental liabilities; reducing costs for site closure; and improving customer service. Under the terms of the agreement, Tersus provides global sales management and marketing services for inVentures Technologies’ groundwater remediation business which includes the world class iSOC® Gas inFusion technology and their other gas infusion technologies for groundwater remediation.
Under the agreement, Tersus Environmental assumed management responsibility for inVentures worldwide network of sales representatives, giving it one of the largest sales forces in the industry and allowing it to service the groundwater remediation community with efficiency and local expertise.
Also in 2011, we signed an Exclusive Patent License Agreement Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS). This royalty-based agreement grants Tersus an exclusive worldwide license to manufacture, use, and sell the technology known as MicroBlower™, a passive soil vapor extraction technology developed at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), which is operated for DOE by SRNS.
That same year, 2011, Tersus was the first company to develop, market and manufacture a self-emulsifying oil for enhanced reductive dechlorination. EDS-ER™ (electron donor solution – extended release) by Tersus Environmental is a vegetable oil that self emulsifies on contact with water. EDS-ER™ is 100% fermentable and contains no water, which allows reducing shipping costs. EDS-ER™ contains food grade soybean oil and food grade vegetable oil derived fatty acid esters but does not contain preservatives. All components are classified as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). When mixed with water, EDS-ER™ has a neutral pH, which means you do not have to adjust the pH in the field. Low pH formulations provided by other vendors can inhibit microbial growth.
Also in 2011, Tersus commercialized Nutrimens®, an all-natural bio-fermentation product produced during the fermentation of an unmodified strain of botanical classification Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Nutrimens® is designed to enhance the kinetics and efficiency of microbial systems. Another advantage of Nutrimens® is that it also provides a source of soluble donor, it contains over 12% Total Carbon and also maintains circumneutral pH.
In 2012, we furthered our corporate partnerships to include SiREM, a subsidiary of GeoSyntec Consultants. SiREM provides tools environmental professionals need to optimize remediation of chlorinated solvents and other recalcitrant chemicals, helping clients save money, increase remediation effectiveness and provide peace of mind during field implementation.
In 2013, Antea®Group, a global engineering and environmental consulting firm, and Tersus Environmental entered into Exclusive License Agreement for US Patent No. 7138060. Under the terms of the agreement, Tersus Environmental will make, market, promote and sell products for sulfate-enhanced bioremediation of contaminated groundwater. The patent includes a process for using high concentrations of sulfate to stimulate biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs), other aromatic hydrocarbons and other contaminants susceptible to sulfate-reducing bacteria.
In 2013 we also started actively marketing eZVI under a buy sell arrangement with TEA/RemQuest. Under the terms of the agreement, Tersus provided sales and marketing surfaces for eZVI to the groundwater remediation community in North America.
In June of 2014, Surbec Environmental (www.surbec.com) and Tersus Environmental announced the signing of a Distribution Agreement between the two firms. Under the terms of the agreement, Tersus Environmental markets, promotes and serves as the worldwide distributor of Surbec’s leading surfactant technology and related products. The patented anionic surfactant formulations have the unique ability to selectively desorb and liberate sorbed petroleum hydrocarbons from soil and fractured bedrock surfaces. To further our understanding of surfactant and emulsion chemistry, in 2015 we founded a Post Doc at The Institute for Applied Surfactant Research, School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering, University of Oklahoma.
In March 2015, Tersus entered into an agreement with Ziltek Pty Ltd, Adelaide, Australia wherein Tersus is appointed the North American exclusive distributor for the RemBind™ product. RemBind™ is a unique powdered reagent that binds and immobilizes contaminants in soils and sediments. RemBind™ treats a broad range of organics including PFOS, PFOA, PCBs, PCPs, PAHs, TPH, various pesticides and heavy metals such as arsenic, chromium and mercury.
NutriBind™ is the latest technology innovation from Tersus in association with Ziltek Pty Ltd. Designed to address the challenges in soil and groundwater remediation. NutriBind™ combines the power of the Patented RemBind™ Technology (US Patent 8,940,958) with the proven performance of Nutrisulfate® (U.S. Patent No. 7,138,060) that once applied delivers rapid contaminant concentration reduction (days) combined with accelerated bioremediation. When mixed with water, the resulting buffered slurry contains elevated sulfate along with a wide array of beneficial vitamins, minerals, and metabolites designed to increase efficiency of electron donor (hydrocarbon contaminants) utilization.
In 2016, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration issue a license (DN-1205) to Tersus for U.S. Patent Application Nos. 6,664,298 and 7,037,946. These patents relate to Zero-Valent Metal emulsions of reductive dehalogenation of DNAPLs.
