Bringing Hope to Houston
Graced on the cover of this month's The Hauler Magazine is Nexus Disposal LLC and CEO Efrain Gonzalez Sr. who like our magazine also celebrates 40 years in the waste industry.

Said to be the fastest growing, privately owned garbage company in the City of Houston, today Nexus manages just shy of 100 commercial vehicles throughout the city and beyond, operating at a radius of over 50 miles. “No Dumpster Left Behind” has become far more than just a slogan for Nexus. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey redefined “catastrophic' as 130 mile per hour winds and over 27 trillion gallons of water tore through Houston like a film out of Hollywood. To say the least, Nexus was a testament of Houston's grit and determination as it was amongst the first waste haulers to respond in more ways than one. Every route was dispatched and all employees quickly scattered throughout the city, not to do their job, but to go to the rescue. Modern day superheroes helping pull families from their flooded homes and deliver them to higher ground inside dry compactors. “We’re just locals helping locals” said Mr. Gonzalez. Nexus dedicates this year's Waste Expo Show Truck to his family and the City of Houston for giving him what no other city ever has: HOPE.

2018 will mark Efrain’s 65th birthday and 40th year in the waste industry. In 1978, Mr. Gonzalez purchased his first garbage company, Best Pak Disposal, for a $1. Multiple success stories have been told by Efrain as he’s acquired and sold 11 waste organizations ranging from Galveston, TX to Philadelphia, PA. The testimony of Mr. Gonzalez is truly one which epitomizes the American Dream and one which brings hope that we all have an equal opportunity to achieve success, but there are no shortcuts to mastering this craft.... it takes blood, sweat and tears to earn the right to be called a GARBAGEMAN.
