Global South-South Development Expo 2014
The Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo brings together all partners – solution providers, solution seekers, financiers, business leaders, policymakers and educators – to showcase successes, cement initiatives, build partnerships and launch projects to bring tested development solutions to scale.
- Event Type:
- Nov. 17-21, 2014
- Washington , DC , USA
Launched in 2008 by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, in its capacity as the General Assembly-mandated global and United Nations-wide facilitator of South-South and triangular cooperation, this innovative United Nations system-wide high-profile event provides economic, social and political dividends that address challenges posed by the UN Millennium Development Goals and emerging post-2015 sustainable development agenda.
Each segment of the GSSD Expo provides a lens through which specific aspects of the Expo’s annual theme can be viewed. Each segment also provides an opportunity for organizers to highlight how their work can be scaled up to complement initiatives launched by partners.
Alongside all segments of the GSSD Expo, the South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange (SS-GATE), a sister platform, facilitates real-time matching of solution providers with solution seekers in a regulated, transparent, and market-oriented environment and provides value-added services to support scaling-up/replication efforts.
The GSSD Expo leverages the contribution of South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation in promoting sustainable development through the following entry points:
- Poverty eradication
- Food security and nutrition
- Health and population dynamics
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment
- Economic Growth
